Frequently Asked Questions

Independent Rebuild Specialist was founded in 1999 and has grown from a field service operation into a specialist in high-horsepower engine remanufacturing. Specialization has been central to our growth, and over time we narrowed our focus to the engine platforms where we could build the greatest depth of experience, process control, and consistency.

Our work is focused on mining, oil and gas, and industrial operations that rely on high-horsepower equipment. These applications often involve long duty cycles, demanding environments, and significant downtime costs when critical equipment is unavailable.

Customers often come to us when they want more specialization, clearer accountability, faster communication, or additional options around engine availability. Rather than competing primarily on name recognition or price, we compete on process control, documentation, parts quality, responsiveness, and specialized expertise in CAT 3500 and C175 engines.

Before shipment, the engine receives final condition checks, required covers and protection are installed, and the engine is secured for transport. Our process is designed to protect the work completed during the rebuild through the final handoff to the customer.

We manage shipping and logistics in-house through our dedicated team. This gives us greater control over scheduling, coordination, costs, and quality throughout the process, helping ensure engines and components are moved efficiently and delivered reliably.

Specific benefits vary by position and location, but most roles include employer-paid insurance options, a 401(k) match after the applicable eligibility period, uniforms, paid holidays, and access to our on-site gym, among other benefits. Review the current job posting for the complete benefits available with each position.

We look for people who are dependable, coachable, detail-oriented, accountable, and serious about doing quality work. Mechanical aptitude and technical skill are important, but so are consistency, professionalism, willingness to learn, teamwork, and pride in the finished product.
